Granite & Natural Stone Surfaces
NW Concrete Interiors works with natural stone and tile offering products such as granite, marble soapstone, glass countertops, heated countertops, backsplashes, and more.
Granite ranges from consistent grain structures and colors, to multicolored stones with veins resulting from the varying distribution of minerals. Almost all granite that is used for countertops is polished to a high-gloss finish. Certain individual characteristics, such as pitting fissures or dull spots are unique and inherent in the geological blueprint of each slab.
Granite is an amazing natural stone. There are many choices of granite colors, designs, surface textures, and patterns to choose from. It is a very dense, durable stone that needs very little maintenance and can be used for a number of interior and exterior designs.
Many things go into the cost of your countertops. Granite countertops start around $65 per sqft and go up from there installed. While considering which product to go with and comparing prices, know that the elements that go into your countertop price are: complexity of your project, the type of stone required, the edging design selected, the number and type of sinks, faucets and cook- tops used, the removal of existing countertops. We also offer services that can make your project unique: fancy cuts, special features, scalloped corners, clips and corbelled corners, radius arcs, additional installation and removal services. We are happy to work with you and your designer to give you an estimate on your project, and we can help you with options to fit your budget.
Marble makes an excellent table and console top, bathroom vanity top, fireplace hearth and facing, and interior or exterior paving or wall cladding. Marble, though indeed luxurious, is soft and porous and needs regular waxing and sealing. If you are an avid cook and desire a marble kitchen countertop, you may wish to consider that excessive and repeated exposure to heat can potentially leave scars or burn marks. Marble can, however, provide a pleasantly cool, non-stick surface for home bakers or commercial bakeries.
Many things go into the cost of your countertops. Depending on the marble quality and grade, you can expect to pay anywhere from $40 - $120 per sqft installed. We are happy to work with you and your designer to give you an estimate on your project, and we can help you with options to fit your budget
Soapstone has become a popular choice among clients. This natural stone is softer than most other naturally occurring minerals. Although soft, soapstone is a very dense (non-porous) stone; more so than marble, slate, limestone and even granite. Its nonporous surface is smooth and won’t burn or stain, though it can scratch. Since soapstone is impenetrable, it will not stain and liquid will not permeate its surface. Colors range from dark gray to bluish or greenish gray. Soapstone is a metamorphosed, easily worked igneous stone characterized by a "soapy" feeling when touched. Its heat retention qualities make it an ideal “shield” for free-standing coal or wood-fired room heaters. Soapstone is also chemical, stain and weather-resistant, and is useful for sinks and laboratory tops as well as general building purposes. Soapstone is recommended for chemistry and fire resistant work surfaces, fireplace facings and inner hearths, and where heat is an issue. We offer Soapstone slab counters, sinks and tile.
The price will depend on your location and also the availability. The price is competitive with high-end granite, ranging from $75 to over $100 per sqft installed. We are happy to work with you and your designer to give you an estimate on your project, and we can help you with options to fit your budget.
Your stone countertops are available in different edge profiles to meet your need. We offer a wide range of edge designs for your countertop. Edge treatments for countertops may vary depending upon the materials you choose. The square edge is the most common, particularly with laminates, wood and tile. Bullnose is a safe, practical edge that makes a countertop look substantial. Ogee is more decorative, and possible only available with certain materials. Click here to view our Edge Profiles.
The price of each edge style depends on the amount of labor required to create the look you want and keep in mind it will affect the overall cost of your stone countertop. The most popular edge profiles chosen by clients are ¼” Bevel, ¼” Bevel (top & bottom) ½” Bevel, 1” Bevel, Straight, ¼” Round, ¼” Round (top & bottom), Half Bullnose, Full Bullnose and Demi Bullnose.
