Can I set a hot pot on my glass countertop?

Hot cookware can be placed directly onto glass, although we do not recommend it and suggest you use hot plates / trivets whenever possible.

Can glass counters be repaired?

Unlike concrete, granite or soapstone if your glass countertop cracks the entire piece will need to be replaced. Glass countertops are extremely sturdy. Under normal use, they should not break, chip, crack and certainly not shatter.

Will glass stain?

A glass countertop is non-porous, making it stain proof.

Will glass scratch?

Glass counters will scratch, and should not be used as cutting boards. Textured glass will help hide the scratches, but will dull your knives. Scratches can be serviced in place and polished out or reduced.

How do I deal with sink and stove cutouts?

With our water jet technology we have the ability to cut any sink or surface unit.

What do seams look like?

Placement of all seams is at the discretion of NW Concrete Interiors. Seams are typically 1/8" and will be visible to the eye or touch. Every effort will be made to insure that the seam is placed in the best location for structural integrity of the countertop and to make it aesthetically pleasing. A “water-clear” silicone is used to fill the glass joints.

What are my color choices?

The natural color is slightly green. Translucent Colors are produced by tinting the back of the glass. Opaque colors are produced by adding a special opaque coating to the back of the glass, which has a striking effect.

What are my finish options?

The glass itself can be smooth, textured, etched, sandblasted, grooved, patterned, etc. An etched or sand blasted back is often done to obscure a view through the top.

How do I care for my glass countertop?

Any standard glass cleaner can be used. Avoid using abrasive cleaners. If certain acidic substances, such as vinegar, are allowed to rest on the surface for a length of time, the glass surface will eventually oyster (giving it the appearance of the inside of an oyster shell). While this does not affect the strength of the glass, the appearance will be permanently affected.

How much do glass countertops cost?

Prices range from approximately $125 - $300 per sqft, including cut-outs (sink, cooktop, faucets) and edge treatments. Special shapes and any other custom specifications are extras. Cost will vary according to your design specifications. We are happy to work with you and your designer to give you an estimate on your project, and we can help you with options to fit your budget.
